Anesthesiologist

Penn Medicine ~ Lancaster, PA

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a BE/BC Anesthesiologist to join their practice in Lancaster, PA. The department of Anesthesiology is a team of 34 physicians, 65 CRNAs and 24 Anesthesia Techs covering 50 anesthetizing locations daily with the primary hospitals being the Lancaster General Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center, and the Women and Babies Hospital. Annual case volume is 32,000 anesthetics per year with 600 cardiac surgery cases. The Anesthesiology team works primarily in a medical direction model with high acuity areas primarily at a 3:1 ratio. Call is shared equally with two Anesthesiologists in-house per night. At-home call includes cardiac call and two back up call positions. All surgical modalities are represented except transplants and complex pediatric cases. There is a subset of 18 Anesthesiologists who also do cardiac Anesthesia that are personally administered. Teaching opportunities of SRNA’s and primary care residents rotating through anesthesiology are available. Academic appointments may be pursued through the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School Of Medicine. Minimum teaching requirements exist.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Medicine (Allopathic/Osteopathic)
  • Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology Residency
  • Cardiac and non-cardiac Anesthesiologist desired
  • Possess or able to obtain an unrestricted PA Medical License
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible

Critical Care Anesthesiologist

The Critical Care Division is made up of nearly 50 anesthesia intensivists as part of the larger Department of over 180 anesthesiologists. Anesthesia critical care intensivists practice in a multidisciplinary care team model as part of a large critical care and anesthesiology practice. Currently our practice is focused on delivering critical care in all areas of surgical critical care to include general and specialty surgery (ENT, hepatobiliary, colorectal, urology, and vascular surgery), cardiac surgery to include mechanical support, and transplant (solid organ, face, hand, and bone marrow). We also staff intensive care units (ICUs) focused on caring for medical oncology and hematology patients. Our virtual acute care practice includes an eICU and a program to detect and intervene on deteriorating inpatients. Additionally, we support an advanced airway management and emergency response system throughout the hospital.
